India Return to Defend Their Blind Cricket Asia Cup Crown
CABI names a 24-player probable squad for the 2026 Asia Cup in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Bengaluru, India: The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has officially announced a 24-player probable squad for the Indian Men's Blind Cricket Team. The team is gearing up to begin its highly anticipated title defence at the second Men's Asia Cup 2026 for the Blind, which is scheduled to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, starting from November 13, 2026. This announcement marks a monumental moment for blind cricket across the subcontinent.
A Decade-Long Wait: The Legacy of 2016
The Blind Cricket Asia Cup makes a grand return after a massive ten-year gap. The delay, primarily caused by prolonged logistical constraints, has only heightened the excitement for the tournament. India enters the 2026 edition as the undisputed defending champions. Looking back at history, the Indian team etched its name in golden letters during the inaugural Asia Cup held in Kochi, Kerala, in 2016. In a thrilling grand finale, India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan to lift the first-ever Asia Cup trophy. The current squad is determined to build on that rich legacy and bring the continental title back home.
The Selection Process & Coaching Camp
Selecting the final squad representing the nation is a rigorous process. From the announced 24 probables, CABI will organize a high-intensity national coaching and selection camp. This camp will conduct extensive cricket training, strict fitness and conditioning sessions, tactical preparation, and multiple practice matches. A dedicated selection committee and the coaching staff will thoroughly evaluate each player's performance, skill sets, and team adaptability before naming the final 17-member squad that will board the flight to Dhaka.
